An abandoned mall somewhere in middle America. Evidence of slow
decline, hints of violence around the periphery. The dying light from
above illuminates the branches and leaves of a once-green tree. There
is no wind to cause the leaves to fall, and so it stays, frozen in
space as time itself decays to nothing.
Trails left by energetic subnuclear particles as they propagate
through a cloud chamber following a collision event. Fragmenting,
dividing, coalescing, and eventually fading away, the trails of
ionized gas particles they leave in their wake are the only evidence
of their existence.
A
standing wave in a river: the medium of the wave is in constant
translation, but the structure remains constant in space and across
time. The complex persistent structure is a product of the energy of
the water interacting with the hidden shape of the riverbed beneath
and around the wave.
